Ron Pemberton had been one of the great people, a guru and patron of the Newfoundland Club of America
(NCA), excellent breeder, exhibitor, judge and he has had simply a good view for a correct dog.
At the
National Specialty (May, 1st - 5th, 2012 Carlisle, Pennsylvania), the biggest exhibition for Newfoundlands in the whole world taking place in the USA, he always had been at the front line. If rain or shine he had been found at ringside, open for everybody, who would like to ask. He had been gone much too early...!
He gave permission for my translation of his book into German language, which had been a great honor for me (in the meantime this book had been also translated into Czech and Dutch language). It is a basic work, which should not be lacking in the bookcase of every Newfoundland dog lover!
The book describes and narrates the American standard, which in the meantime nearly not differ any more from the FCI standard. Moreover Ron
Pemberton shares his knowledge about the breed in a professional excellent way, very easy to understand!
I´ll never forget his laconic descriptions, e. g.: "two legs coming out of one hole", or: "everything on a dog, which reminds of another breed, is a heavy fault". I have learned a lot from him and miss him very much!
The publisher bbpress stands for high quality, tenderly made books around dogs and other animals.
As a breed editor for Newfoundland dogs from bbpress I am working together with my international correspondents from all over the world. In the meantime we gave birth to the third edition about the years 2008 and 2009 (in English language).
The next edition covering the years 2010 and 2011 will be published mid 2012
You may find the correspondent and contact person of your country at the bbpress webpage.
Very well known breeders, judges and Newfoundland dog lovers from all over the world are presenting their articles of more than 250 pages. The book consits in the first part of common articles (maybe personnel, historical, scientifical, something about water work or breed, etc.), in the second part each country is represented with a national article and their champions for these two years, which will be printed with a picture and a three generation pedigree for free!
This had been this first edition of my Das Neufundländer-Buch, printed in 1993, already sold out (it carries my late name Karin Brönnecke).
